Favourite quote

Some weeks ago I read a discussion with the question 'what is your favorite quote'. Although I can think of many, I now realize it's one of Frédéric Antonious:

Consider every moment as a new beginning

When I heard that one and started to realize what it implies...wow, that saves a lot of energy! Most of the time we are still thinking of the past. However, you cannot change it anymore, so why spend so much energy on it? Now that I write this down, I can already hear people thinking 'yes, but you have to learn from the past!'.....and I think; of course, but not by repeating it again and again. Well, maybe I'm exaggerating, just wanted to share the quote; maybe it can help you as well.

I love the idea of being able to tell others our favorite quotes. I hope you don't mind if I share a couple of mine.

Easy for Chewbacca to say!

That's usually the response I get when I cheekily ask someone - who is just waking up - what the meaning of life is!

Zen does not confuse spirituality with thinking about God while one is peeling potatoes. Zen spirituality is just to peel the potatoes. - Alan Watts

People say, "Don't you think you ought to be able to do it by yourself?" And I love this question because the answer is: You can't do it by yourself. That's the entire message of the last 10,000 years of human history. The self is insufficient. The ego will not suffice...you must humble yourself to the point where you admit that you can't do it unless you have help from someone whose idea of home is a cow flop. - Terence Mckenna

Think Watts missed the point there. Most people just peel the potatoes. Zen spirituality would be just to peel the potatoes with mindfulness.

something i came across today that really resonated with me.

Life should feel like your floating downstream in a canoe... if you feel like you are having to paddle upstream... You're headed the wrong direction.
