Sky123,

Thanks for posting this.....the 7 I AM statements of Johns gospel. I have often suggested that they can be better understood by parenthetically inserting THE and IS....so they read, for example, the I AM is the bread of life....and so on. It then makes you ponder what the I AM actually means.

It is like the difference between a full church on a Sunday morning and a solitary figure meditating.

I AM really annoys me!

' I AM really annoys me ' this may help

John 14:20... At that day ye shall know that I AM in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

Honza,

It is quite difficult to understand your understanding of the I AM. Over the course of time you have seemed to vacillate in your enthusiasm or lack of enthusiasm for it. Perhaps I am misreading you but what comes across that you are seemingly defining I AM as realization of your self which is ego. Conversely my understanding of the I AM is that it is a realization of God within oneself...….the severing of connection to the ego. Perhaps you could share your understanding of the I AM ? I see it as a dynamic force which signifies a legitimate attempt to re-uniting with God.

The two words I AM all started being used by people with one primary purpose; and that is to self-reference oneself. If I was to say "I am" then I would be informing you that "one is", "I exist", "me", "myself" etc.

I AM is a self reference.....

So to continue further....everyone who says God is I AM is stating that God/Reality is a self reference. As opposed to any other kind of reference.
