Color Why I love Buddhism....you?

Well, 1 reason:
Because of it's wisdom in it's Koans.
They have the ability to shift the brain or the mind to this 'place' -
that is similar to a child's that believes in fantasy!
Magic! -Santa Claus! Miracles! --it's in there still...the Koans awaken this area!

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Seeing those who are into Buddhist practice chanting and engaging in satsang, what I find unique is that Buddhism cultivates a habit of mindfulness and compassion in pouring out prayers for others.

A superb platform, considering that in other religions most people go to the place of worship to ask for some favour from God for themselves or family etc. only.

I have otherwise not really studied Buddhism at any level (other than browsing through the Lankavastra sutra and reading on this forum what others have to say) since even given that the noble truths and different paths prescribed having their own validity, a formatted practice of any religion takes away pristinity of innocence, in my view.

Of course, religions have there own purpose and at least for the moments someone enters a hall of prayer, it is a prompt to switch off the cellphone and shift attention to the source within.

Yes, the Buddhist underlying theme of caring for others is essentially planting the seeds of love in our hearts. And Love is the only real vibration.

I love Buddhism because they really do not care what other people believe in and pretty much keep to themselves and mind their own business. If other people want to join them or not, it makes no difference to any individual practitioner on their path to personal salvation.

I also love their temple designs and structures.

For a while there, it was a competition as to who built and designed the best temples...the Buddhists or the Hindus?

After much consideration, the Buddhists win this..hands down!

I like Buddhism because unlike a lot of other religions you are free to believe or not believe whatever parts of it you like.
It's not rigid and dogmatic like a lot of religions are.
There's so many different sects that you're bound to find one that suits you and your beliefs.

I love Buddhism because if you are true to it, it is true for you. Beautiful nibbana!

Try entering certain Temples wearing shorts and sleeveless shirt/blouse?

Point your feet toward a Buddhist and see what might happen?

See what happens when you pat a Buddhist child on their head?

Try shaking the hands or giving a hug to a monk?

While at it, have a male try shaking a hand or giving a hung to a nun?

That is forbidden inside Hindu temples also, but either you missed the point, or I did not express myself clearly enough.

The reason why I ultimately chose to swing towards Hinduism and not Buddhism (even though I love Buddhism), is because of my belief in God...which is also the main difference between these two religions, because in all other aspects, they are much of a muchness when you get right down to the ancient origins of the whole thing.

Now, as long as I comply with the rules and regulations, as I would respectfully do if I entered into ANY Religious building as a "condition of entry", I am free to observe, participate, come and go as I please without having any doctrine or dogma forced down my throat..I am given the option of taking it or leaving it and the priests/nuns just don't care either way.

It is not like I am told that if I believe in God, I will go to hell...it is not like there is an "in your face" preacher who says "read the Dhammapada or ELSE!" and it is not like a Buddhist on the street will approach a complete stranger...they wait for others to come to THEM and don't go around actively seeking recruits.

Now, is there anything else I have said which you have problems understanding? Kindly inform me if you require further clarification, thank you.

Have you ever been in a Temple that displays the various Heavens and Hells?

Those Hells are horrible compared to the singular Hell most Christians talk about, would you not agree?

Because I chose the path of Hinduism early on and devoted much of my time to studying that religion only, I did not have a chance to study Buddhism much.

I do know that in Hinduism (and Buddhism), there are also many, many planes of existence...some much better and some much worse than the plane we are currently living on.

While I have not been into a Buddhist temple depicting those scenes, I have been to Tiger Balm Gardens in Singapore as a child and that was just sheer, gory awesomeness!

However, those Buddhist beliefs that teach about such things don't appear to be the most mainstream ones...I mean, I liked reading stories about how gluttons would be be reborn in the afterlife as ghosts with huge appetites and tiny throats for their sin and such...all that is there, but there are no threats of eternal damnation of your SOUL (what is a soul?)....or if there are "hellfire and brimstone" Buddhist evangelists going around saying "praise Buddha.. hallelujah" it ain't something I have ever seen, but maybe you have had such experiences because I only know what is true in MY reality and not anybody else's reality (or the plane on which they exist as being relative to my own).
