I have not yet followed this all the way through but here's a starter for you:
All Programs ... Accessories ... Sound Recorder (microphone)
'fraid that's the best I can do for you. I know my daughter was highly delighted to discover her laptop could be a dictaphone .. but like me she's not followed it through yet.
I wish you the best of luck because I need to know the answer too ... unless, of course, we're talking about two different things. LOL

I can't believe I missed this.
So, what you want is an Ovilus X clone for Windows 7? There is only one out there:

I've had some rather good results using it, but they are few and far between.
