Shivaratri 2017

Shivaratri (Shiva's night) is around the corner. In my country in Europe it is celebrated on friday 24 february.

I plan to do mantra with the panchakshara mantra "OM NAMAH SHIVAYA".
Also probably my shivalingam will have central place that day, with offerings of flowers milk honey et.c.

Hanging out on the net looking at shivaratri movies as well I guess.
Signed up for some free live events..se how it goes. As I'm fresh here I can't post links.
Art of living have such an event. Also Isha foundation. I will try these. Will be interesting.

Would be nice to hear about some experiences here if there are any ?

Om

There is an Eclipse in the sky at sunday. Eclipse time are said to be excellent times for spiritual practices. That is auspicious for shivaratri. It may magnify the power of any practices done.

The eclipse is close to the spiritual planet Neptunus also.
at 14 degrees aquarius in the sidereal zodiac. Just three degrees from Neptune. The eclipse is a so called south node eclipse. South node eclipses are more auspicious for moksha practicies. South node is called Ketu in hindu astrology.)

Each repetition of the mantra "OM NAMAH SHIVAYA" on the day of Shivaratri is said to be magnified 1000's of times.

Yeah.....

The holiest night of the year or the Saiva faith... all night puja fest. Most temples will have their last puja at 6AM Saturday morning, and for the hard core traditionalists, its right to stay awake until 6PM Saturday.

The fact that God never sleeps is never more evident than on Sivaratri.

Yes it's a feeling of magic in the air as the awareness that the night is globally used for worship of SHIVA.

I did take a trip by subway to the local hindu temple where abishek of the Linga was performed by a priest. Many indians there with beautiful saris.
Big quantities of milk being poured. I was present at the 6pm abishek. Then home to socialise a bit. Watched some youtube videos of mantras. Couldn't resist looking at a boxing match though simultaneosly of the world title. Not so dharmic.
