Rather complex. Who we really are is "embedded" into this " reality ".
Ask, "What makes up this reality?"

Yes that would be a huge danger but isn't this already happening in the world through media like television, radio, books, education?

I would agree that we are a program in the sense of having bodies, growing up, aging, etc., but I don't agree that it's dictated who we are and what are our experiences. I think we have free will and can reshape our personalities and lives. The way the world is constructed and the way our bodies-vehicles are constructed may be compared to some computer game but it's all means to experience, feel and grow. That's how I see it for now.

Yes, to some degree. But we can opt-out of this style of programming. And it requires a lot of resources in both money and research in an "attempt" to convince us of one thing or another. And there are competing interests at play, so the message will likely be mixed and oftentimes confusing. "Is product/belief A better than B?"

While the direct style of programming, where the mental system is hacked, and thoughts and assumptions are directly modified, by a yet to be defined entity, I'm not sure we would like the results (assuming that like and dislike wasn't flushed from our makeup).

Can you think of anybody or institution or country or belief structure that you would want to have that kind of control over your thoughts? eewww... :)

No we are much more than that and not comparable to computer as we can react differently in same situations or different situations according to our mind and requirement but computer can react only as programmed by the developer.
we have emotions, love, hate etc. as we are human being not a machine.

Agreed! A computer is a reflection of our cultural programming, it only reflects back what we think ourselves to be at any given time. If we as a species are currently dysfunctional then the computer will simply reflect this at an increasingly accelerated rate.

I believe we have been put into the matrix. Look what Technology is doing to the masses.. While it can be a great thing, it can also be awful. It's just continuing to grow & develop at insane rates.

I recommend checking the show Black Mirrors out on Netflix. It puts a pretty great twist on speculative fiction with dark and satirical themes that examine modern society, particularly with regard to the unanticipated consequences of new technologies

People. Watching. WAY. Too. Many. Hollywood. Movies.

Lots of fantastic esoteric literature out there, going back centuries, that explains life, reality, the soul, the nature of "God," the purpose of existence, etc. But you do have to pop your own popcorn before sitting down to read.
