<3 Animals...

I often remind my dog that our friendship/connection extends beyond this lifetime... He's getting up there in age (10 years old) and I don't know how many more days we'll have together in the physical world...

I have heard about the Rainbow bridge, and if my dog goes before me, I look forward to meeting her there in due course.

I believe all living things pass over to the Astral when they die, and I feel that if the bond of love is strong between a pet and its human companion they will always be together, in this life or the next
Also I believe in reincarnation and I have read that it is possible the spirit of a pet can, if it so chooses reincarnate to once more become a pet of its beloved human

That's so beautiful fayette. Yes it is so.
My dog has shown me that is true! I am so glad she did. I have had lots of great friends, but I have to say she was -and still is, the closest to me -ever.

Souls are energy so all life has a soul...think about it.

I always find this concept so interesting, mainly because I don't understand why people question if other living things would have souls.

A little example that brought this to light for me... My friend has a fish tank and one of the fish for the longest time was clearly suffering. Instead of doing anything she would just stare at the fish and kept saying, "I feel so bad." I suggested for her to go to the pet store and tell them about the symptoms she was seeing in her fish. She did and tried doing what they said to help it. Nothing worked and the fish continued to suffer more and more. Eventually I said, "You should take the fish out of it's misery. Don't let it suffer in its final days, it will move on to the next life." Her response was that fish just die and they don't go anywhere after so that's why she felt she had to keep it alive.

I found that so shocking to think because never once in my life have I thought that humans are the only living creatures with the privilege to move on. In my mind all life is equal and when they die they move on or come back.

I'm pretty sure the idea that animals don't have souls comes from religion, and in my case it would be the religion of Christianity in which I was raised that that idea comes from in my recollection. Something like only humans have souls and it's through Jesus that our souls could find redemption. Animals have no ability for contemplation so they can't understand and only the redeemed may enter heaven. Or some similar such nonsense.

My best beloved dog ever was suffering so...horribly bad. His hips gave out. I cried and cried and comforted him. He needed to be put down but no vets would come or open, because it was a Sunday. A close friend called a friend of his who came out with a Mennonite. They said it was for the best. I didn't want it and to this day I carry extreme guilt, because they came out with a pistol and shot him. I screamed and wailed...and thinking about it even now, I can't bear it. I've never been able to forgive myself. My dog could no longer walk and was howling in pain and even broke a tooth while biting a branch because the pain was so great. It came on so severe overnight. It was a horrid experience. My daughter and I had place him on a sled to get him outside to do his business but he could not even get up. It was so sad. He was 15 or 16 years old maybe more since I got him when he was an adult but still. I hope he forgives me and went off to where ever dogs go...I wish I could forgive myself. I will never let anyone put down a pet for me that way ever again. I will sit with my pet and comfort it until I can get a vet to come out or get to a vet. :-( I'm sorry coco :-( Forgive me.

I have 2 dogs that i love so much that i wanted to find out what happens to animals when they die, in hope i will be with them forever when we all pass. Not just them but the pets i had before them. I get emotional attached to pets and when they go its just a tear fest and the sadness is just unbearable.

I just love animals in general and it's good to know that they are free and have an afterlife too like us.

Thanks all for your reply's

Hi Babylon! The afterlife literature suggests that while wild animals return to special "group soul" regions of the afterlife, which are populated entirely by their own species, animals loved by humans stay with us in the hereafter and even gain a sort of human-like intelligence. Those who have had many pets on earth will often find themselves stampeded by a heard of adoring animals the very moment they enter the Summerland!

When our pets cross over into the afterlife, they will sometimes stay with our friends or family members there until they can be reunited with us. If no such person exists, some other animal lover will watch over them until we are ready to enter the afterlife ourselves. In the meantime, they will periodically visit the earthbound realm to check in on and comfort us.

Life itself is quite exciting for animals in the afterlife; they are generally free to roam and explore wherever they wish, since there are no dangers there. We have no need to leash them or to restrict their freedoms, and because there is no shedding and no "bodily functions" in the Summerland, we need not clean up after them either!
