Since we all are made of the same thing, essentially stardust; quarks, elementary particles that the universe gathers together to create life, I would have to say yes, I do believe in a collective unconscious. I believe that's how Greek, Roman and Nordic cultures believe in basically the same deities, the names of the deities might be different, but their aspects are strikingly similar, although they had no way of comparing notes.

Why do you ask?

I seem to be at loggerheads with the collective unconscious at times....it is like it is angry at me.

Collective Unconsciousness.... I thought you wanted to discuss it or are you just saying that you believe in it. Just pointing out it was taught in the East thousands of years before Jung....
I'll leave you to it.

I was not aware that the East taught about the collective unconsciousness. It is something that I have not come across in my learning except from Jung. Can you give me a pointer to some Eastern teachings on the matter?

Since Jung created the term collective unconscious the Eastern religions would use different names, and more confusing, different concepts. Similar to the Eastern religions at their best, Jung focuses on the inner experience rather than objective concepts.

Here is a good essay on the subject:
https://www.idrlabs.com/articles/201...fluenced-jung/

Freud saw the unconscious as some kind of adversary or trickster. So his approach was to consider the unconscious a problem to be reckoned with. Many Western people also fear the unconscious. It is not an easy path when you let your ego reign at the expense of the unconscious. The result of this kind of relationship is stubbornness and unhealthy emotions.

Jung considered wholeness to be the primary goal. So he approached the unconscious with curiosity and deep respect. Seeking to experience and grow as the relationship grows. To develop a healthy relationship with his unconscious as a path to wholeness.
