Hi there

I have quite a bit of history with both of these conditions.

Please know that I am not an aromatherapist, I have just come to this thread wanting to offer support.

I wonder if your intuition is guiding you to anything in particular? (If it is for yourself... or even to help someone else).

I would imagine that it may depend on the energetics of your depression as to what oils would be best suited for your needs?

I have relapsed into bouts of depression for various reasons. Sometimes grief or lonliness, othertimes frustration or boredom or feeling a lack of purpose and at other times due to the energetic wounds from my childhood.

I have found Lavender and 'warmer' smelling oils to be useful for grief- comforting smells. It is sometimes useful to use in conjunction with oils that assist with releasing emotional pain... but only if we are ready to do so.

Lemongrass I LOVE as it is cheerful and uplifting and energising. I also love peppermint for this reason as well.. it has the added benefit of being calming too. Both these oilscan be quite overpowering I have found... so I use them sparingly.

Each of these emotions have a slightly different energy about them and I would imagine that the oil which you intuitively choose may help with your specific needs.

I wish you the very best in healing, if it is you or someone in your life experiencing these things.

Yes it's for myself. I have a panic attack selection but its a mixed up oils that I don't know what they are (shop bought so to speak) and rescue remedy. I'm up and down all the time so I need stuff for lows and stuff for highs and the panic that goes in-between I guess!! I do like lavender but I don't want to smell of it. I love food type smells like coconut and strawberry (big weakness for these two mixed for some odd reason).

Hello Nixxy

I would suggest Ylang Ylang to help with anxiety & panic attacks this helps slow down a rapid heart beat such as panic. I would also suggest sweet orange or mandarin any citris oils help lift depression, also frankincense is very grounding and also patchouli.

Some more tips for you try and have regular massages such as Indian head massage or reflexology to help with manage your anxiety, stress levels and all are beneficial, also ensure you get some vitamin C and Vitaimin b12 in your diet or supplement and use magnesium flakes in foot baths, or soak in the bath with them on a regular basis as this is good for stress and balances the body and helps you sleep better.

I hope this helps.

Vitamin B is a wonderful suggestion.

I have to take vitamin B12 everyday just to maintain some kind of resemblance of normalcy
I haven't been taking my magnesium lately though...
Whoops... and I know how important these supplements when ypu have anxiety issues!

Anxiety rips through the bodies supply of B's and magnesium.

Hello RedEmbers yes Vitamin B is important for the body along with magnesium. I have just been reading up on the benefits of drinking coconut water it contains Vitamin B, magnesium, potassium drinking it has many benefits such as reducing high blood pressure, aiding weight loss, boosts hydration and contains electrolytes, enzymes and amino acids. Oh and a good hangover cure lol so I best stock up on some hehehe.

Love GA x

Hi. I have a 'sensory kit' to help me deal with anxiety and depression.

http://www.ot-innovations.com/clinic.../sensory-kits/

In it, I have:

Frankincense oil - very grounding and emotionally stabilising.
Violet oil - I find it more relaxing and calming than lavender oil.

A stress ball made out of a balloon filled with rice...it's nice and squishy and the rice crunches together and the sound is very relaxing:

A ball of floam slime which I can mold into any shape I want:

A packet of eucalyptus candy - perfect for stress! I mean, a million koala bears can't be wrong, can they?

A picture of the deity I worship:

An tiny MP3 player with relaxing music...like Silk Road by Kitaro:

A pair of kaleidoscope glasses:

A Lapis Lazuli rubbing stone:

Anyway, that's what is in my sensory kit. Try making one of your own.

There are some really cool ideas here, Nec.

I love the concept and all the creative ideas.

It all sounds very therapeutic.
