I trust our Eurasian hunter-gatherer ancestors saw things in a similar way when creating the myth about the World-Tree-in-the-Sky (the Eagle on top and the Snake at the bottom), because the Milky Way at times (especially 6000 years ago) looked like a Christmas Tree lit up.
