I would say this is a key to evolving consciousness. Once it's recognized there is a soul-spiritual aspect to our existence, the human being's entire focus shifts and mundane physical-material concerns fall away for the most part.
It sounds like you're suggesting metaphysical occurrences happen in our lives for collective rather than just personal reasons. An interesting thought, but not something I've personally experienced so I can't say. That said, we're all soul-spirit beings from the same Spirit source, so it makes sense that what we experience individually affects the collective in some very real way.
