Well, you don't "transform" into a Rainbow. (unless a Soul Walk-In? rare)
Rainbow souls come to earth be born. Like, a Rainbow soul comes in and will *only* choose a loving family. This is so that they can live their freedom. They have no karma because they've never incarnated here, this means they can truly be free to do what they want. And what they want is to assist in upliftment of the world.
In my case, every inch of me has always wanted to uplift. Everywhere I go, everything I do, I want to uplift the world around me. Even before I came into spirituality, that was me.
Don't get me wrong though, I've done a lot of work on myself, and I continue to work on myself. But that's not how I became a Rainbow. (I didn't become one)
Maybe tell us some of the signs you've noticed? It sure helped me to write it all out.
