The return of Christ was probably the fuel that has brought about the various Great Awakenings.

One 'Great Awakening' that people do not talk about involved Christopher Columbus. During his life time, people were looking for Eden were the Garden of Eden was located. When Columbus' ship landed off the coast of mainland America, his crew disembarked and Columbus was positive they had found Eden.

The book Columbus wrote about this subject (translated into English in the 1990's) showed Columbus as an extremely religious person who actually believed that the major change in governments that people pray for would be started by HIM.

He dipped the pen into the ink and then faltered for just a second. A tremor had gone through his bowels. To mark the paper was the decisive act. In small clumsy letters he wrote: ........... April 4th, 1984.
