This might not be very philosophical just my understanding of what emotions are. Basically, they are a learning tool for the spirit within the body to move through different stages toward the eventual separation from the incarnation cycle. Emotions will never go, they just flatten out, until they are almost non existent. We can see this in many so called "old souls"who are on their last or close to their last incarnation.
