My own (semi)-vegan journey

Since everyone here is sharing their journey, I thought I would share mine.

It's nothing special really, but it has really changed my life. Well, first I got tested for lactose intolerance and found out that I am in fact lactose intolerant (after years of eating my favourite thing - cheese! and wondering why my digestive system was always so messed up).

Then somehow this vegan page showed up on my facebook which regularly posts videos of animals being tortured and abused. I always knew it went on but was always too sensitive to watch it before. So I was in denial about where my meat came from.

But after I saw these videos and followed the page I was horrified and decided at the same time that as I was quitting dairy that I would quit meat too. At first I decided to just be flexitarian, but decided after only two weeks to go full way (minus eggs which I still eat).

However I enjoy going out for meals and found it hard to be purely veggie, so decided when I go out to eat I will have locally derived meat - usually wild rabbit, duck, or locally caught fish. Nothing farmed. I know these animals had a good natural life and I can thank their spirit for their gift.

I am not against meat eating or dairy eating as such because we are omnivores as are many animals, I am just against the horrors humanity carries out on these animals and treats them as nothing more than trash, less than even.

So that is me and my journey. Anyone here have a similar approach?
