Our conscious mind has no memory of previous incarnations, but our subconscious mind remembers EVERYTHING. Because we are so intuned with the physical world, it is hard for us to bring our subconscious mind to the forefront. This is why it takes so long and so many incarnations to learn. It is a slow, but necessary process. A lot of times we even digress.

We can't just gain access into heaven. It is a privilege you have to earn, and you'd be hard pressed to find anyone you know that is ready. I can't remember where I read this but somewhere it says, John (I think John the baptist) was a great man on Earth but he would be the least of those in heaven.
