Source recognizes that it is ONE (there is no "other").
therefor, ALL motivations, at their root, are "self-serving" (as there is no "other" to benefit from it!).

the taoists had the opposite slant... to learn you would daily LOSE not daily GAIN.

and it makes sense, a lot of the stuff there is to gain isn't really worth gaining in the end.

personally I'm happier not trying to gain stuff.
