not personally, no. personally id go for chen or yang style tai chi (as i know them well but others could be as good) and would definitely look to joining a group. i think dvds can be good with tai chi but you need instruction too and so its best that that instruction is not too far from where you live. i feel i can vouch for the world tai ji boxing association (the inceptor trained at the base of wudang mountain if that means anything, i don't know). this is him teaching the first 3rd of the yang cheng fu form. the best teaching vid ive come across for understanding what they're on about.

i see its called wu-dang to acknowledge heritage (just been on wicki). wu dang tai chi sounds ok. i see they are not fooled by "empty force"...the idea of being able to move, disable or knockout folk from a distance without touching, so thats a plus point. they're big on self defense too, which is all well and good, but id stick purely to the health benefits.
doesn't sound like a bad choice though. good luck with it either way, powerfull stuff.
