You are correct Agiosotheos. Jesus died on the day before the Sabbath (Mark 15:42) and resurrected on the first day of the week, which was the third day since the crucifixion (Luke 24:21) and the day after the sabbath (Matthew 28:1). The Wednesday Crucifixion view does take care of Matthew 12:40 but it doesn't take care of the fact that the Jews often counted parts of days as whole days. Jesus was crucified on Friday and resurrected on Sunday.
