This seems, in many ways, to be a thread of individual speculation about what WE think God wants. Why not see how the Bible answers this question? Two particular scriptures provide an answer. Jonah 6:8......"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
Also, Hosea 6:6......"For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgement of God rather than burnt offerings."

There is often a tendency to make things unnecessarily complicated by attempting to know everything and discover the answers that nurture our egos. Sometimes the answer is relatively simple. Jonah 2:8 says....."Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs." Do not let your pursuit to have a better answer than everyone else to become an idol. In large part, this pursuit results in the enhancement of one's ego. The ego, in many ways, represents the original separation from God.
