I usually don't do quite so much qigong at a stretch (4 hours is a lot!), but no matter how long it's for, a closing movement is good for multiple reasons.

It helps solidify the intention to remain aware in the body, particularly at the lower dantian. This helps not only from a subtle energy standpoint, but is also a component of mindfulness and awareness of the present moment (often linked with abdominal breathing), which is crucial to being able to take the internal benefits of qigong practice into everyday life.

It also emphasizes the lower dantian/lower chakras, which is helpful because when you've been building up a lot of energy, it becomes important not to hold onto too much excess – to stay rooted/grounded

But if it's "spontaneous" like you say, and you're wondering whether to do one, it sounds like maybe that's your inclination? In any event, you won't hurt anything by doing it
