I'm reposting my own words from another thread, on the subject of detachment:
Detachment doesn't mean not feeling, but you can become detached by simply watching your feelings as they come and go... with allowing and accepting... and conscious breathing.
And you can learn how to release negative feelings and desperate desires, rather than either getting caught up in them, struggling with them or denying them.
