I would say faiths are united in how they serve similar purposes. The actual beliefs are not the same though. For example, someone might say 'all paths lead to God', but Buddhists don't believe in god(s). They may have different goals as well, not all necesarrily are trying to reach a God or some form of nirvana in the first place. It's misinformed to say all religions lead to the same thing, unless you choose to believe it anyway regardless of fundamental differences.
