For the individual there is no change at all. No insight and therefore no 'before insight' and no 'after insight'. No realization, no attainment. No conduct 'after' and 'before'. Logical thinking is still logical thinking. Rationality is still rationality and irrationality still irrationality. It is just that 'Ordinary mind is deprived of its own sphere'. Linguistic expressions still are linguistic expressions and still may be appropriate or inappropriate in a given context although as forms and sounds they are empty of meaning from the outset.

Ok, so there is a before and after direct introduction, which I gather is what I have referred to as a direct encounter. This is most commonly referred to as a realisation due to a rather sudden, well, realisation, oh that.
I find your description of a space like mirror quite apt. Indeed, there seems no reason or cause for such an encounter, which have called it 'a fortunate accident' in the past. The basic difference is one minute a person isn't conscious of it, then they are, hence it is referred to as self-realisation.
