I have schitzophrenia, so i have a lot of internal visions, but i've also had external visions (not many though) so this is an important question to me. The internal vision are somehow distracting and i also have a wish to have more external visions and to learn how to separate these two...

the only thing I can think of is, if you have visions and watch them for a long time, to see which come to fruition as 'internal' and which come to fruition as 'external'... you might notice something else that is happening during the time of the visions. Possibly, there is something that goes along with the vision and if you 'saw' that as well it might help you classify the things in the future.
