It's is written by a medical doctor called Neil Barnard (
http://www.pcrm.org/media/experts/neal-barnard), who wrote several books on nutrition and weight loss. He also speaks (among several other medical doctors and nutritionists) in the "What the health" documentary that you can see online for 10 bucks. This documentary - which I highly recommend - explains why the message about the benefits of eating only whole and plant-based foods isn't yet reaching the general public.
