Way back when, it was mostly the liquid diet, but not totally.
Nowadays I do both, but I will include healthy things like almonds, a variety of different types of nuts, soups (non-cream-based, well e xcept for broccoli soup), baked potatoes with minimal butter, no sour cream, fresh apples, pears, no crackers, no pizza, etc.
