The book is written from Tibetan manuscripts and translated by the author.
You didn't ask me about finding anywhere where the Buddha said find a master..
One, the quote above is from a Buddha :)
Two, there are many, many sutras where the Buddha says to find a teacher.
Three we have had this discussion many times about teachers in Buddhism and was not the point of this thread. This thread is about the RESULTS.
Your issue is about a guru.. maybe you should use your inner guru to work on why that is such an issue with you.
