I have also thought this many times. It's so easy to get caught up in the "darkness" of it all, but that is what Ego wants. To me, Ego is the same thing as the devil/satan. When we are reunited with our twin flame, physically or spirituality, we are vibrating at higher frequencies and see the "light" so to speak. There is always that little voice, ego/devil, tempting you back down into the darkness and it's very hard to resist going there.
