Il'Divino... If we breathed in misery and kept it we would definitely add to our negativity.
However, the gift of this meditation lies in the transforming power of the heart. Whatever energy we bring into the heart is changed and uplifted by love itself. Then we breathe out caring and compassion which frees us from our usual excessive self-focus, and heals and releases us as well.
Try it first with emotions of your own and you'll see what I mean.
