Everyone's experience with reiki will be different. Don't worry about not feeling any sensations in your hands. I don't think I felt anything either after my level 1 course. On the other hand it might just mean that nothing or very little reiki was needed in those areas. The heat you feel from certain chakras means that those centers needed the energy healing.
The sensations you get while practicing reiki may change when you get into levels 2 and 3. For me, I now feel the energy coming out of my palms after a few minutes of working in one spot. Your body also warms up during the session as a result of this.
