NDEs are genuine subjective experiences strongly affected by people's emotions and beliefs. Whatever they perceive are interpretations (distortions) of "what there is". People's beliefs and emotional reactions being so different, it is normal that their NDE perceptions are different. You see how widely different people religious beliefs are, too.
I'd say: you can't believe your own eyes!
