This is a stone I have an I too wear it with breaks from it. Mine is wrapped in silver that helps to both ground it some and to open the properties of silver with it.
Your not doing anything wrong just that your timing in using it might not be the best planned out. It opens the emotions those deep things that need to to be looked at and cleared. Water is a cleanser and it is a stone tied to the water element so tears make sense with it.
As it too is a stone for Astral Travels it could be pulling you out somewhat when worn so grounding helps with this aspect.
Tourmaline is a stone of composure and balance. The pink is also called Rubellite all colors have basically the same makeup but each have their own names, due to a slight difference in chemical makeup.
The pink and red are the most highly prized and sought after. All Tourmaline enhance understanding, increase self-confidence and amplify psychic energies
It is used as a channeling stone for communication with the higher forces. Love, Friendship, Peace, Courage & Astral Projection. It pulls to the element of water and the Zodiac of Libra. The pink and red pull on the Heart Charka so here again the emotions being opened.
