As someone who has a) been chasing the twin flame path for half a lifetime, and b) can channel Jesus Christ, I can confirm that there are no solid, logical answers like you're probably looking for.
What I can tell you is this: 'Enjoy your own life' is seriously the best piece of advice on this subject. Twin flames are highly romanticized, but people often overlook the turmoil that tends to occur after first contact. You are reflections of one another, good and bad. There is no doubting the love and joy you will find in your twin flame, but if you have problems in your life or in your well-being, they too will surely surface between you and your twin flame. As each of you highlight the areas you each need to work on in yourselves, some amount of strife is to be expected.
That being said, the best thing you can do for yourself in the meantime is to love yourself. Take care of yourself, reflect on things you'd like to improve. The better a person you are, the more successful your first meeting will be.
Always remember that the universe has a plan for you. No matter how long you have to wait, it will be worth it. Namaste
