I would say you had a sort of near death. An opportunity to see the beginning of death but not actually visited the other side. I personally think it was your soul talking to you or a guide. Of course go with your gut on what it felt like to you. Sometimes people do have more extensive experiences but don't' remember them, probably so it doesn't sideline us from our set goals for the life.
