Meditation is basically the practice of being at peace with what is, so in regards to the tension and other sensations you describe, them being as they are, you remain calm in your awareness.

The tensions we experience in our bodies can sometimes connect with the emotional conditions that manifest them. Thus the practice works to bring to awareness the in depth aspects and overall holism of such issues as you describe.

Hence, the way to deal is to let it be, cease any psychological reactivity toward it, maintain that calm awareness, and the poised calmness of mind is in conjunction with the calm poise of the body.
