Well, regarding the prophesies in Revelation, for one it is a threefold description of one certain period to occur on earth, using three different sets of symbolism.
You have the bowl judgements, for example, the woe judgements, and another. The trumpet judgements.
Symbolisms are explained in the text itself, or in other parts of the Bible.
The writer clearly shares who the dragon is in one of the three descriptions of the events.

The beast?
It is described as having a number of heads and crowns. Which are Countries, and leaderships.
It is a united humanity.

The false prophet? Most feel it is the last Pope, the religious leader described in one place as a lamb, with the horns of a goat.

With exceptions, most protestants believe it is a scenerio which is present after a pre tribulation rapture, or calling up of believers has occurred.
Common sense indicates that this occurs at the outset of some global catastrophe.

And Nit? You left out the mountain crashing into the waters, ( masses of people ), and turning the waters bitter. A star..?
Also called, "Wormwood"? And, causing the fish to die?
Here may be something both literal, and symbolic.
Research "stars" in the Bible.
They represent both angels and people alike.
The devil is called the star of the morning in the old testament. He fell, and affected humanity, in the world.
We see here how the Bible ignores the issue of time.
Which science also tells us is illusory, which is related with space.

So? What is, "the world"?
