Overcoming all the sorrows of life is easier for one who eats well, but is not too heavy, sleeps adequately, works with enthusiasm and leads a life in a regulated regime. Too much or too little of any of these aspects disrupts the body. Among these several aspects, food is a vital part of vitality.

In Ayurveda, food takes on greater importance, and it establishes a set of principles about what, why, how, when, and what is associated with food. The use of products saturated with prana, called life, destroys all suffering, both in the physical and psychological context.
