Self love really is the dark side of love. It is love but it is very self absorbed and not necessarily virtuous or ethical. The Bible is mainly about whole love which Christ summed up as love of self, others and God. NOT just the flaming self.

Get over yourselves! So what you are God, but are not we all. God is God too.

To Honza.

Where you got this idea that Old Testament teaches “self love”? Do you ever read Old Testament? The Love, as Jesus pronounced and teaches actually does come from the Old Testament.

Leviticus 19.18.34
18."You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against any of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
34.The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you, you shall love the alien as yourself, you were aliens in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord, your GOD."

(Verses 18 and 34. Love your neighbor, alien, stranger, and love one another: (Leviticus 19.18.34) (Deuteronomy 10.19) (Proverbs 25..21-22) (Matthew 5.43-44, 19.19, 22.39) (Mark 12.31.33) (Luke 10.27-28) (John 13.34, 15.12-13) (Romans 13.9-10) (Galatians 5.14) (James 2.8) (1John 3.10-11, 4.7-8.11.21) (2John 1.5)

Do you know that everything that Jesus ever taught, said, quoted, and teach, all of it, to the last word, came from the Old Testament?

It seems to me that you still do not discover and understand that the Biblical Love is. The Biblical Love is the Spiritual Love, first for GOD, and then for all humanity. Love is the self-sacrificial entity, and always requires self-sacrifice.

Psalm of David 145. 20
20.The Lord watches over all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.

Proverbs 10.12
12.Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offences.

Matthew 10.37-38
37."Whoever loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
38.And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me." (Matthew 10.37-38, 16.24) (Mark 8.34) (Luke 9.23, 14.26-27.33)

John 15.13
13.No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
