Lately I'm no longer preoccupied with this question. It was part of my self-abandonment to be more concerned about his state of sadness/happiness than my own.
So yesterday and today have been rainy and I've been in a bit of a funk. Plan on cleaning the house, taking a walk in the rain, and picking up my mood.
