I had a professor once who lost 50 pounds during one semester of classes. (5-6 months) Not only did he improve his diet, but he also mentioned he listened to meditative/hypnosis mp3's on his ipod. I was curious about his rapid weight loss, he looked better and better each week. He said he felt it truly did help him. So :) I believe it definitely can!!
A lot has to do with the positive thinking - willing mentality.
You can will things to happen! If you think genuinely each day, I will lose a pound this week.. I will lose a pound this week (or more) and believe in your words. Chances are it will happen! But of course you need to also introduce changes to either your physical activity or... healthier diet. Small changes + will = success!! The hypnosis and meditation will only help strengthen the determination.
