In as much as I know, no. Not required. However, earth is a good school for faster growth. If we do not experience transient pain and joy spherically, we may not be able to correlate with sufferings of ‘others’ in depth.
However, having chosen to incarnate here, we cannot exit unless karmic debts are cleared. (The fine print we tend to miss)
