Regarding the Book of Revelation, people tend to confuse the, "antichrist" personage of the time period, with the beast also.
The individual leader is the one who St. Paul described as both the "man of lawlessness", and, "son of perdition".

The beast, it becomes apparent is about the united people... of these last few years of the "age", (the two stages cited in Daniel, of "times, time, and half a time", 3 1/2 years each).

This time period is also referred to as "The Day of the Lord", in various places. Such as in Isaiah 2, in Joel 1, 2, and 3, and elsewhere.

Who all in concert on earth, decide under this personage's leadership, that this coming "mark", will create the long sought after peace on earth.

What will be realized though is that true peace cannot come by human design alone.
True peace can only come by the imposition of God's authority, which will occur after much tribulation, and disturbance on earth. The false peace designed by humanity will not hold.

This involving human nature, and Ego, related with the devil.
In the 21st century, and end of the age, we are not ignorant of these things. which are foretold in prophecy.
Prophecy about the "appointed times" indicates to us that a program is running, in which we are, "embedded".
