Here is one view of it -

Psychopomps are creatures, spirits, angels, or deities in many religions whose responsibility is to escort newly deceased souls from Earth to the afterlife. Their role is not to judge the deceased, but simply to provide safe passage.

yes, this is what i do in the "dream world". i dream of death, i die with people. then sometime later in "waking life" the dream comes to pass. in the dream i escort them to their next phase of existence. it use to torture me, dying with so many people all the time. it took about two decades before i met someone who explained to me that i am a psychopomp. then it all made sense. in the dreams, i never am judgemental of the deceased or those who killed them. i always am like a door to their next destination. after i learned my purpose in it all, all that anxiety that i would feel in waking life left me. and funny enough, since i have learned my purpose in it all, i dont dream this way as often. i still dream of the future, but not nearly as much death anymore. which is fine with me. my spiritual journey has lead me to a new path, that ofcourse i dont know much about. life is funny sometimes.
