I think you might have experienced what I used to call "massage drunk." Sometimes it is pleasant, sometimes it makes people feel weird.

During and after a massage, you usually experience a rush of endorphins, which is generally enjoyable, but can sometimes be a shock to the system if, for whatever reason, your own natural production has been lacking.

Or it could be the therapist's technique. Engaging and disengaging the parasympathetic nervous systems back and forth can actually cause anxiety in some people, and that is a risk you run if you don't have good "flow."
