Yes acupuncture works on animals, much in the same way it works on people. There are a couple of differences though. One is that the point locations are different. The other is that animals are much more sensitive than humans, and so the needle lengths and depths of insertion will be smaller.

I have come across plenty of books on veterinary acupuncture, but right now I am still learning the human side. :)
