Somewhat tangentially, the inner heart is also referred to as the cave in the Vedas, though ego is also found in this cave. This heart cave is also my own experience.

Personally, I feel Rumi's power is in the depth to which he entered into his own heart, I feel this is what still speaks to people today, a deep heart authenticity that speaks directly to us.

He also speaks of the pain that lives in the heart, which most spiritualities don't seem to address directly, and often refers to the light that exists when pain is addressed.

To me he has been a friendly voice on the path to the inner heart.
