The cosmic triad is a very important philosophy (with associated symbolism) to almost every religion and philosophy out there!
For example, I am a Shaivite (meaning that I worship the Hindu God, Shiva) - with his 'three eyes' and 'trident' and 'three lines of ash on his forehead' etc as a direct representation OF this!
Almost everything in the universe comes in the 'arrangement of threes'.
To a theist in the Hindu tradition, there is Brahma the creator, Vishnu, the preserver and Shiva, the destroyer - representing, as they do, the three stages and states of matter (despite the fact that matter can neither be 'created' nor 'destroyed' - due to the first Law of Thermodynamics).
We also have the three 'Gunas' or 'modalities of human nature' being Sattwa - purity, Rajas or passion and Tamas or inertia.
Then, there are the three 'planes of existence' being "Earth", "Man" and "Sky/Universe".
In Christianity, there's the "Father" and "Son" and "Holy Spirit"
In relativism, there is "Subject" and "Object" and "That which either unites, or separates both".
In the Atom (not including quanta), there is "Proton", "Neutron" and "Electron".
I could go on all day how everything 'comes in threes'.
