Honza,

Soceity was guilty of breaking all the commandments originally and it still is. I have a very different understanding of the 10 Commandments. Truthfully, IMO, they could be renamed as the 10 Promises or the 10 Predictions. The repetitive use of the word 'shall' indicates something that will occur in the future at some unspecified time. If, indeed, it is promissary or predictive in nature because it was said by God it must necessarily be true.

Furthermore because it was spoken to specific people it must apply to them. The only way,IMO, this could happen is to indicate that the afterlife we call 'heaven' is a reality. I believe that in heaven this means that for any one of these commandments it means we shall be free of the desire to commit any one of these sins. If these were genuine commandments instead of 'shall' the words 'must' or 'cannot' would have been more appropriate.......either of the latter two usages would have had the unspoken connotation of 'or else'. In other words, immediate punishment. This has not been the case in history.

As we know and/or accept the wages of sin is death. Heaven is a promise of a realm without sin thus eternal life, not death, becomes a reality and a fulfilled promise. In that realm, the ego is absent and consequently 'sin'.
