qi gong emphasises cautious and subtle movement.
so start by doing both.
have one strong form, like tai chi and do this everyday.
but you can also throw in less formal excersises
focusing hard on tai chi will help you understand the subtlety of movement
work toward perfecting it
but as you perfect the physical
and become better at feeling your qi
play with it and get use to how qi feels
but never try to control it
qi gong is about giving it room to move on its own
and the ultimate goal for the practitioner
is to let go of all of the forms
and perform spontaneous qi gong
when you just follow your qi
and let it control your movement
